Interview with Attorney Matt Fendon

#1: What made you want to become a lawyer?

Years of watching my Dad work for his clients, and then my time as a paralegal in his firm. It was so rewarding to help people with their most complicated problems.

#2: What sets your firm apart from the rest?

Definitely the family atmosphere – we truly treat our clients like family. There is someone always available to talk to them, listen to their problems, and come to a solution.

#3: Tell us about a case that you are particularly proud of:

I really can't choose here. I would say that one of the most rewarding things is getting to call a client after a favorable decision from a judge. They have waited a long time to hear the news and are so thankful for a great result.

#4: What steps do you take to prepare for a difficult case?

I dictate on every case I take in, and then my paralegals and I follow up on the memo to make sure everything is done. We do this throughout the process, so if a case goes to hearing, I will summarize every event that happens and use it to refresh my memory down the road.

#5: What advice do you most often give to your clients & why?

Be patient. The process does not happen overnight. However, if you can get through this part of your life, you can make it through anything.

#6: How do you view your role in the attorney-client relationship?

As a counselor, friend, and family member – I know the law very well, and can tell them how the system works and steer their case through the rocky roads, but at the same time, I am also here as a friend to listen to their problems.

#7: Tell us about a turning point in your career:

Passing the Bar was an unbelievable experience. That was when I knew I could take my 5-6 years of knowledge working as a paralegal to my Dad, and start applying it to my own individual cases.

#8: How long have you been practicing law?

Going on 6 years.

#9: Why should a prospective client choose to work with your firm?

Because of the attention to detail we offer, the aggressive stance we take against insurance companies, and the kindness we show our clients.
