I read an article the other day on Bloomberg that states that 1.6 million Americans have claimed SS disability since the recession began in 2007. It also discloses that it may be more difficult for disabled Americans to obtain employment versus non-disabled folks. It also shows that 99% of employees who get on SS disability are on the benefit until the age of retirement. With the SS Trust Fund set to run out of money as of 2016, the judges at the SS Administration are awarding benefits less frequently.
