What Is The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Program?

Published January 24, 2014 by Matt Fendon Law Group | Firm News

The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program is a federally-run program that is paid for out of general tax revenues from the U.S. Treasury. The SSI program provides financial benefits and support to individuals with certain types of disabilities who would otherwise be unable to provide for themselves or maintain a decent standard of living. If you have an existing disability that makes you ineligible to receive other types of Social Security benefits, you are over the age of 65, you are blind, you have a mental or physical impairment preventing you from engaging in substantial gainful activity or you meet any of the other qualifications according to the SSI program guidelines, you may be eligible to seek SSI benefits to help supplement your income.

Our firm has helped countless individuals in and around the Phoenix area to get the financial help they needed as a result of benefits obtained through the Social Security Income program. We realize that a large percentage of these types of benefit claims are denied the first time around which is why we work diligently with our clients’ best interests in mind to help give them the highest possible chance of success. There is no question that the outcome of your case will depend heavily on the strength of your claim and the evidence you have to support it. Having a lawyer who understands the SSI claim process and is committed to doing everything possible to help you achieve the positive results you seek, will make a big difference in whether or not you win your case.

If you want to find out about your eligibility to receive benefits through the SSI program, or you wish to apply for benefits, contact our firm today to discuss your options with a Phoenix social security disability lawyer. We are available to assist clients in all surrounding areas, as well, including Phoenix, Flagstaff, Scottsdale, Tucson, and Prescott Valley.
