Social Security Retirement And Disability Interplay

Published May 19, 2015 by Matt Fendon Law Group

Often, we will receive calls from individuals 62 years and older who are already receiving Social Security retirement benefits, but want to attempt to receive social Security Disability benefits for example in Prescott.

Many people do not know this but claimants can obtain Social Security Disability benefits when they are already receiving early retirement benefits as long as they meet the medical requirements for Social Security disability.

Early retirement benefits are paid as of age 62 should the individual decide to file for them. They are usually paid at a much lower rate than the disability benefit would be paid, which is typically equal to the amount owed at full retirement – 66 years old.

Please feel free to contact Fendon Law Firm if you have any questions about this topic or any other social security disability issues in Arizona. We have offices in Flagstaff, Prescott, Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tucson.
