PTSD A Covered Condition In Arizona Work Comp

Published February 1, 2018 by Matt Fendon Law Group | Firm News

We received many calls about the condition post Trumatic stress disorder a.k.a. PTSD. This is a real condition that affects many Arizonans.

PTSD can be a covered condition under the Arizona workers’ compensation act as long as the injured worker can show the that the PTSD is related to “an unusual, unexpected, or extraordinary stress” where the issue or issues at work were the “substantial contributing cause” to that condition.

These are not the easiest cases to navigate via the Arizona workers’ compensation system because these are high standards that have to be met from a statutory perspective.

We often see these types of cases with law-enforcement, and fire and rescue employees. However, PTSD can happen to anyone. Other circumstances where we see these types of cases in Arizona include workers that are held at gun point, or sexual assault cases or sexual harassment type cases while at work.

Please feel free to call Matt Fendon Law Group free consultation regarding your workers’ compensation case for PTSD.
