Equal Pay Act
Employment Law Tip of the Day – The Equal Pay Act prevents employers from paying workers of one sex at wage rate different from that paid to workers of the opposite sex for equal work. It applies to most employers. Exceptions include wages paid pursuant to a seniority system, a merit system, a system that measures pay by the quantity or quality of the goods produced by the employee, or proof that unequal pay was based on a factor other than sex.
