The Equal Pay Act
Employment Law tip of the Day – Equal Pay Act – this Federal law prohibits employers from paying workers of one sex at a wage rate different from that paid workers of the opposite sex for equal work. It applies only to sex discrimination. The exceptions to the rule are wage differentials per a seniority system, merit system, systems that measure earnings by quantity/quality of production, or for any other reason unrelated to sex.
